MARYVILLE, Mo. -- The Pittsburg State University men's and women's indoor track & field teams returned to action for the first time in 2020 Saturday (Jan. 25) at the Northwest Missouri State University Bearcat Open.
In the women's action, Brianna Cooks recorded a pair of individual event victories in the weight throw (58-8, PQ) and the shot put (45-6, PQ), while Haven Lander won the pole vault (12-10, PQ).
Among other notable performances, Cassidy Westhoff (5:10.63), Piper Misse (5:12.32) and Hannah Honeyman (5:23.32) finished second, third and fourth, respectively, in the mile run. Christine Williams finished fifth in the 200 meters in 25.32. Camryn Williams finished third in the shot put (42-2), while Asia Anderson placed fourth in the long jump (17-11).
In the men's action, Levi Wyrick won the weight throw with a toss of 60-3 (PQ) and Colin Webber raced to victory in the 800 meters in 1:53.65. Konner Swenson placed second in the shot put (58-8, PQ) and third in the weight throw (56-7). Cameron Johnson and Cameron Wright each cleared 16-2 in the pole vault with Johnson finishing in second place and Wright placing fourth.
Jordon Woods placed fourth in the triple jump (46-4), Chase Dalton finished fourth in the weight throw (53-9) and Jared Becker posted a fifth-place finish in the 60 meter hurdles (8.52).
The Gorillas will return home to host the Wendy's/Pittsburg State Invitational next Saturday (Feb. 1).
