PITTSBURG – The Pittsburg State University softball team will return to action this weekend (Feb. 15-16) at the Alvy Early Memorial Classic at Bentonville, Ark.. The event will take place at the Memorial Park Fields and the Tigers Athletic Complex.
The Gorillas will play two games Saturday followed by another pair of games Sunday morning. The tournament originally was scheduled for Friday and Saturday but was pushed back a day due to the weather.

Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020 – 4 p.m. – vs. Southern Arkansas (Memorial Park 6)
Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020 – 10 a.m. – vs. Missouri-St. Louis (Tigers Athletic Complex)
Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020 – 12 p.m. – vs. Southeastern Oklahoma (Memorial Park 9)
The Gorillas enter weekend play with a 3-7 record. Pitt State posted a 1-3 record at the Edmond Regional Festival last weekend at Oklahoma City.
As a team, Pitt State is scoring 5.0 runs per game and batting .249 on the young season. Senior infielder Mackenzie Goswick is coming off a solid weekend of play at Oklahoma City. She now has a team-leading .412 batting average with five doubles and eight RBIs. Senior infielder Kaity Kukowski also is batting .367 with 11 runs scored, three home runs and 10 RBIs.
Sophomore righthander Shelby Smith leads the Pitt State pitching staff with a 1-3 record and a 6.25 ERA.
