Gorillas Return to Action at Edmond Regional Festival

PITTSBURG – The Pittsburg State University softball team will travel to Oklahoma City Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 8-9) to participate in the Edmond Regional Festival. It will be the team's second straight weekend in tournament action on the young season.

Pitt State's weekend schedule is listed below:

Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020 • 4 p.m. • vs. Southwestern Oklahoma (Oklahoma City)
Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020 • 10 a.m. • vs. Colorado Christian (Oklahoma City)
Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020 • 2 p.m. • vs. Cameron (Edmond, Okla.)

The Gorillas bring a 2-4 record into week-two action. Pitt State split each of its first four games on opening weekend at Conroe, Texas at the Arkansas Tech University Winter Invitational before dropping the final two contests in the three-day, six-game tournament.

Pitt State enters the Edmond Regional Festival batting .228 as a team. Senior infielder Kaity Kukowski currently leads the team with a triple, two home runs and four runs driven in while batting .316 overall. Sophomore outfielder Keelah Griffith is hitting .238 but has a triple, a home run and a team-leading five RBIs to date.

Pitt State pitchers carry a 5.16 ERA after six games played. Junior righthander Kaylee Burnett leads the staff with a 1-1 record and a 4.85 ERA.
