PITTSBURG — Pittsburg State University men's and women's indoor track & field athletes posted solid performances in their 2021-22 season debut Saturday (Dec. 4) at the Crimson & Gold Invitational.
In the men's action, Matthew Oglesby raced to a new school record in the 5,000 meters. He placed second overall in the race in 14 minutes, 24.65 seconds. Mason Strader posted the second-fastest time in school history in the 3,000 meters with a personal record and winning time of 8:17.54. Konner Swenson also recorded a personal-best with his winning throw of 59 feet, 11 inches in the shot put.
In other action, the 4x400 meter relay of Nizar Alarahshun, Matthew Morris, Monte Boen-Gutierrez and Brady Stone claimed victory with a fast time of 3:17.81. Connar Southard placed second overall in the 3,000m (8:38.78). Cole Sample finished fourth in the shot put (53-6.25), Kennedy Nwaneri placed fourth in the triple jump (45-2.25), Graham Hudelson finished fourth in the 800 meters (1:54.27) and Colin Webber placed fourth in the mile run (4:16.74).
In the women's action, freshman Isabelle Peters made a strong Gorilla debut by winning the pole vault. She cleared 13-5.25 to post the second-best mark in school history as well as earn an NCAA qualifying mark. Kyla Davis (12-10, PQ) and Paige Rantz (12-6, PQ) added second and fourth place finishes in the pole vault.
London Futch won the 400 meters in 56.10, while the 4x400m relay of Matti Price, Olivia Lowrey, Trace Mosby and Futch won with a time of 3:49.72. Audreanae Hagan added a fourth place finish in the 60 meter hurdles (8.70, PQ).
