PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University softball team will travel to Topeka to take part in the Washburn University Invitational this weekend (Feb. 27-28).
The Gorillas will open tournament play at 9 a.m. Saturday against McKendree University and Pitt State will close out day one action at 11 a.m. against the University of Sioux Falls. On Sunday, the Gorillas will battle the University of Missouri-St. Louis at Noon and Wayne State College at 2 p.m.
Pitt State is 1-3 on the young season. The Gorillas opened the year with a 5-0 win over Chadron State at the Central Oklahoma Festival last week, before dropping the final three games of that tournament action to Southern Nazarene (8-0), East Central (11-5) and Oklahoma Christian (10-4).
