PITTSBURG – The Pittsburg State University softball team will play host to Southeastern Oklahoma State University Tuesday (Mar. 23) for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. (CDT) at the PSU Softball Complex.
The Gorillas head into Tuesday's action following a two-game skid after losing to Washburn University in doubleheader action Sunday (Mar. 21). Pitt State fell to the Ichabods 10-1 and 10-2, in the doubleheader. The losses dropped the Gorillas to 8-12 on the season and halted a modest four-game win streak.
As a team, Pitt State is batting .269 on the season. Senior second baseman Kaity Kukowski leads the squad with a .358 average. Kukowski has put up 19 hits this season including three long balls and two doubles. Sophomore catcher Audrey Miller leads the team in home runs with four.
In the circle for the Gorillas, senior Kaylee Burns leads the team with a 3.95 ERA in 59 innings pitched. Burns has put up a 4-5 record this season including three complete-game efforts.
The Savage Storm come into Pittsburg with a 13-2 record. Southeastern Oklahoma swept Arkansas-Monticello in a three-game series in its most recent action.
