Box Score 2 PITTSBURG – The Pittsburg State University softball team dropped a pair of games to Southeastern Oklahoma in doubleheader action Tuesday (Mar. 23), 10-7, 6-1.
In game one against the Savage Storm the Gorillas got off to a hot start with a three run moon shot by first baseman Kami Zimmerman. Right fielder Paxtyn Hayes followed in Zimmerman's steps in the bottom of the third to smack a two-run shot to put the Gorillas up 5-0. The Storm would answer in the fourth and fifth to tie the game at five. Hayes would notch her second long ball of the game in the fifth to put the Gorillas up 7-5. The Storm would tie the game in the top of the seventh and go on to win the game in extras 10-7.
Hannah Harrison was charged with the loss for game one moving her season record to 0-2.
The Gorillas scored first in game two thanks to a few errors by the Storm. The Storm would answer back with three runs in the top of the second. The Storm would continue to hit well plating three more runs to give the game a final score of 6-1.
Maddison Morris was credited with the loss moving her season record to 0-6.
The Gorillas are back in action Saturday Mar. 27 in Joplin, Mo. to take on Missouri Southern in MIAA action. First pitch is set for noon.
