PITTSBURG — Pittsburg State University men's and women's indoor track & field athletes enjoyed another round of solid performances Saturday (Jan. 29) hosting the Wendy's/PSU Invitational at the Robert W. Plaster Center.
The Pitt State women garnered four individual event victories in the meet: Isabelle Peters in the pole vault (13-6.5), Auna Childress in the triple jump (38-6, PQ), Christine Williams in the 200 meters (24.43, PQ) and the distance medley team of Kate Dawson, Madison Burt, Claire Bruening and Hannah Honeyman (12:24.69).
The Pitt State men secured a trio of individual event wins: L.J. Kiner in the long jump (24-6.25, PQ), Bryce Grahn in the 3,000 meters (8:22.17) and the distance medley relay team of Connar Southard, Braylen Brewer, Matt Wilson and Mason Strader (10:06.00, PQ).
In other women's action, Camryn Williams placed second in the weight throw (52-9.25) and third in the shot put (42-8), while Octavia Duncan finished third in the weight throw (51-11.25). Trace Mosby placed second in the high jump (5-5,75, PQ) and fourth in the 60m hurdles (8.55, PQ) and Blakelee Winn placed third in the long jump (19-3.25, PQ) and sixth in the 60m (7.56, PQ).
Kyla Davis finished second in the pole vault (13-2.5, PQ), Emerson Tice placed third in the 600 yard run (1:26.13) and Dawson finished third in the mile run (5:02.66). The 4x400m relay of Tice, Matti Price, Olivia Lowrey and Williams finished second (3:52.69).
In other men's action, Cole Sample placed third in the weight throw (56-8), while Brewer lowered his school record in the 400m with a second-place time of 47.52 (PQ). He also placed third in the 200m (21.45, PQ).
Strader placed second in the mile run (4:04.72, PQ) – lowering his school record in the discipline – and Matthew Oglesby finished second in the 3,000m (8:27.17).
