Gorillas Travel to Arkansas for Alvy Early Classic

PITTSBURG – The Pittsburg State University softball team will head down to Bentonville, Ark. to take part in the Alvy Early Memorial Classic starting Friday (Feb. 10).
 
The Gorillas are set to play five games over the weekend starting against William Jewell College on Friday (Feb. 10) at 3 p.m. Pitt State will turn around the next day for a doubleheader first against Quincy University at 11 a.m. Game two of the doubleheader the Gorillas will take on Maryville University.
 
The Gorillas will round out the weekend with another doubleheader this time against Wayne State (Neb.) and Harding University starting at 11 p.m.
 
Scouting the Gorillas
  • The Gorillas opened 2022 play with doubleheader wins over Southwest Baptist University on Wednesday (Feb. 9).
  • Pitt State put up 21 runs in 12 innings against the Bearcats.
  • The Gorilla pitching staff held the Bearcats to 10 hits in the two games
 
Scouting the Opponents
  • William Jewell enter 2022 off of a 13-27 record in 2021.
  • Quincy enters the 2022 season after a 20-24 season in 2021.
  • Maryville posted a 21-16 season in 2021.
  • Wayne State notched a 7-31 record in 2021.
  • Harding enters the weekend with a 3-2 record after opening the 2022 campaign at the Arkansas Tech Invitational.
