Box Score 2 Bentonville, Ark. – The Pittsburg State University softball team split a pair of games in its final day of the Alvy Early Classic, against Wayne State College, 17-3 and Harding University, 10-8.
In game one of the day against Wayne State, the Gorillas would get off to a hot start after a three-run shot by Gabby Schultz in the second to put the Gorillas up early, 4-0. After adding on four more runs in the third the Gorillas were up to an 8-3 lead.
The Gorillas would continue with the hits scoring another seven runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take another run rule victory, 17-3.
In game two of the day the Gorillas would once again start off strong with a five run first inning. Kylee Bohle would start things off with a solo shot for the first run of the game. Kami Zimmerman would add three more runs with a bases loaded double.
The Bison would fight back in the next few innings taking the lead in the fifth inning 7-6. The Gorillas would tie the game back up in the sixth at eight a piece. Harding would hit a walk off double in the bottom of the seventh to hand the Gorillas its first loss of 2022, 10-8.
Pitt State will be back in action on Feb. 19 to take on Winona State University in Pittsburg.
