MARYVILLE, Mo. — Senior sprinter Christine Williams led the way for the Pittsburg State University women's and men's indoor track & field teams at the Northwest Missouri State University Invitational Saturday (Feb. 5) at Hughes Fieldhouse.
Williams won the 200 meters with a fast time of 24.13 seconds. Her mark broke her own school record of 24.28 from the 2020 season. Williams also secured an NCAA qualifying mark with her time of 7.74 in the prelims of the 60 meters and she helped her 4x400m relay teammates Emerson Tice, Olivia Lowrey and Matti Price secure a PQ mark with their fifth-place time of 3:52.59.
In other women's action Saturday, Kyla Davis won the pole vault with a new facility record clearance of 13 feet, 5.75 inches. It was a personal best mark for Davis. Kinsey Laird also secured a PQ mark with her season-best clearance of 12-8 in the discipline.
Auna Childress added a second place finish in the triple jump (38-0) and Camryn Williams placed third in the shot put (42-10.75). Sky Hagan earned a PQ mark with her time of 8.67 in the prelims of the 60 meters. She placed third in finals with a time of 8.71.
In the men's action, the 4x400m relay of Sam Tudor, Nizar Alarahshun, Bailey Stone and Braylen Brewer set a new school record with their winning time of 3:11.51.
Hunter Jones started the day with a second place finish in the heptathlon with a PQ score of 5,199 points. Alarahshun added a third-place personal best time of 48.10 in the 400 meters and Brewer placed third in the 200 meters (21.57).
L.J. Kiner placed fourth in the long jump (23-3.25), Cameron Johnson finished fifth in the pole vault (15-7.25) and Cole Sample placed sixth in the shot put (52-6).
