Pitt State Softball to Host MSSU

PITTSBURG – The Pittsburg State University softball team looks to break out of an eight game losing streak against Missouri Southern State University, Saturday (Apr. 9). First pitch with the Lions starts at Noon (CDT).
 
Scouting the Gorillas
  • Pitt State enters the weekend 21-16 overall and 3-9 in the MIAA. The Gorillas currently sit 11th in the MIAA standings.
  • The Gorillas currently rank second in team batting average in the MIAA with a .344 average on the season. Pitt State also ranks 18th in Division II in 2022.
  • Taylor Lambert leads the Gorillas at the plate with a .492 average on the season. Lambert also sits atop the MIAA in individual batting average on the season.
  • Sophia driver has also posted big numbers for the Gorillas with a .417 batting average in her first season. Driver has amassed 20 hits in 48 at bats and 11 RBIs
  • In the circle Hannah Harrison has posted an 11-4 record on the season with a 3.02 ERA. Harrison has allowed 91 hits in 90 innings of work for the Gorillas.
 
Scouting the Lions
  • Missouri Southern enters Pittsburg with a 20-15 overall record and an 8-4 MIAA record. The Lions currently sit 6th in the MIAA.
  • Yazmin Vargas leads the lions at the plate with a .386 average on the season.
  • Bailey Lacy has posted a 9-6 record and a 2.53 ERA in the circle for the Lions.
