SHAWNEE, Okla. -- The Pittsburg State University women's basketball team broke open a tight game midway through the fourth quarter to pull away for a 60-50 win over Oklahoma Baptist University in the MIAA/GAC Challenge Friday (Nov. 10).
The Gorillas (1-0) scored 12 of the first 17 points in the fourth period to break open a 38-35 game.
Karenna Gerber led all scorers with 22 points in the contest, while Grace Pyle added 11 points and a game high nine rebounds. Destiny Buerge came off the bench to spark the Gorillas with 16 points, 12 points vie four of eight shooting from 3-point range.
The Gorillas,who shot 36.4 percent (24-66) from the field in the game, outrebounded the Lady Bisons, 49-35, in the contest including an 18-7 advantage on the offensive glass.
Pitt State will wrap up two-day action in the MIAA/GAC Challenge by battling Southwestern Oklahoma State University Saturday (Nov. 11) at 1 p.m.
