PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University softball team make its home debut Saturday (Feb. 18) when the Gorillas host the two-day Pitt State Triangular at the PSU Softball Complex.

The Gorillas will entertain Wayne State College and Drury University in the two-day, six-game weekend schedule. Pitt State will face Wayne State at Noon (CST) and Drury at 4 p.m. Saturday with a match-up between WSC and DU sandwiched in-between. On Sunday, the Gorillas will take on the Wildcats at 10 a.m. and the Panthers at 2 p.m. WSC and DU will face one another at Noon Sunday.

Scouting the Opponents
- The Wayne State Wildcats will make their season debut in the Pitt State Triangular. WSC posted a 15-38 record in 2022. The Wildcats were picked 10th in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) preseason coaches poll.
- The Drury Panthers are 2-7 on the season. The Panthers competed in the Alvy Early Classic at Bentonville, Ark., last weekend, dropping four games to Arkansas Tech, Missouri Western, Northeastern State and No. 1 ranked Rogers State.

Scouting the Gorillas
- Pitt State enters the weekend action with a 3-6 overall mark. The Gorillas split four games at Bentonville last week, sweeping Southeastern Oklahoma and Henderson State before falling to Southern Arkansas and Harding.
- Redshirt junior infielder Gabby Schultz leads the team with a .440 batting average (11-25). She has a home run and two RBI to her credit thus far. Senior utility player Taylor Lambert also is hitting .419 with five runs scored, two doubles and an RBI.
- Junior LHP Hannah Harrison has a 2-2 record with a 2.45 ERA. She has one shutout and three complete-game efforts to her credit so far. Redshirt junior RHP Lilli Weir also is 1-3 with a 2.66 ERA and one shutout so far.
- As a team, Pitt State is batting .289 and scoring 2.4 runs per game. The Gorillas have a 2.62 ERA in the circle.
