LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Pittsburg State University junior infielder Paxtyn Hayes has been named the NCAA Division II Louisville Slugger/Player of the Week by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Tuesday (Feb. 21).

Hayes had a monster weekend for the Gorillas, batting .692 with two doubles, four home runs and 19 RBI while leading the Gorillas to a 4-0 record. The Greenwood, Ark., native went 9-for-13 at the plate in the four games played in the Pitt State Triangular. She hit for the cycle in home runs between the games, belting a grand slam, a three-run homer, a two-run homer and a solo shot. She slugged 1.769 in the four contests.

Hays, who was voted the MIAA Hitter of the Week Monday (Feb. 20), went 3-for-3 with a double, two HRs and six RBI in a 10-2 win vs. Drury Saturday (Feb. 18). She also went 3-for-3 with a double, a home run and six RBI in a 12-1 win against Wayne State (Neb.) Sunday (Feb. 19). Hayes closed out the weekend by going 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBI vs. Drury Sunday.
