TOPEKA — A sudden ice storm hit during Pittsburg State University's initial softball game in the Washburn University Invitational Friday (Feb. 24) forcing the game to be halted and declared no contest.
The Gorillas (7-6) led Southwest Minnesota State University 18-0 in the third inning when the sudden inclement weather halted the contest. Pitt State, which led 8-0 after two innings, scored 10 runs in the third inning as weather conditions became unsafe to continue play.
The Gorillas are scheduled to face the University of Missouri-St. Louis at 1:30 p.m. and St. Cloud State University at 5:30 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 25) in day two action in the three-day tournament.
