Gorillas Split Pair of Games on Final Day in Texas

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CONROE, TEXAS - The Pittsburg State University softball team split a pair of games on day three action in the D2 Spring Invitational. The Gorillas scored a 3-2 victory over No. 18 ranked Angelo State University before falling, 3-0, to Texas Woman's University.
Game One:
The Gorillas got off to a quick start in the bottom of the first with two bunt singles from Taylor Lambert and Heather Arnett. Kianna Pellegrino drove in Lambert with a sacrifice fly to give the Gorillas a 1-0 lead. The Rambelles struck back in the top of the third with two runs to give them a 2-1 lead. In the bottom of the sixth, the Gorillas gained back the lead thanks to an RBI single from Kylee Bohle and a run scoring single from Kadyn Trochim.
 
Game Two:
The Gorillas and the Pioneers battled for five and two thirds scoreless innings until a three-run blast gave the Pioneers a 3-0 lead. The Pioneers would then close the door on the three-run victory.
Kylee Bohle went 3-4 at the plate in two games for the Gorillas with a key RBI to tie the game vs. Angelo State in the bottom of the sixth. Hannah Harrison pitched a complete game striking out three batters to get the win. 
The Gorillas will be back in action next Friday (Feb. 10) as they travel to the Bentonville, Ark., to take part in a two-day tournament against Great American Conference foes, Southern Arkansas, Harding, Southeastern Oklahoma and Henderson State.
