PITTSBURG -- Grace Pyle and Karenna Gerber combined for 38 points to help lead the Pittsburg State University women's basketball team to an 82-48 victory over Rogers State University Wednesday (Jan. 24) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
The Gorillas (13-5, 7-5 MIAA) halted a three-game losing streak that bounced the squad from the NCAA Division II Top 25 poll by shooting 53.6 percent from the field in the contest, converting 30 of 56 shots from the floor.
Pyle paced Pitt State with 20 points, making five of nine shots from the field including three 3-pointers. Gerber added 18 points on eight of 11 shooting. Alba Lozana Davila (12), Macie Mays (11) and Jenna Shipley (10) also finished in double figures Shipley returned to the lineup after missing seven games due to a foot injury.
The Gorillas scored 16 or more points in all four quarters, building a 45-24 halftime cushion and expanding their margin to 66-37 after three quarters of play.
Rogers State (8-10, 3-9 MIAA) got 18 points from Alayzha Knapp. The Hillcats shot just 31.5 percent from the field (17-54).
Pitt State will host Northeastern State University Saturday (Jan. 27) at 1:30 p.m. (CST).
