PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State Univesity women's indoor track & field team secured four individual event victories and a score of NCAA qualifying marks in the season opening Crimson & Gold Invitational Saturday (Dec. 7).
The Gorillas picked up individual event wins by
Erica Schamel in the high jump (5-9, PQ);
Kyla Davis in the pole vault (13-9.5, PQ);
Makayla Watson in the long jump (19-8-5, PQ); and
Diandrenique Gaines in the 60 meters (7.40, PQ).
Watson posted the second-best indoor mark in school history with her winning mark in the long jump, while
Siby Yao, who placed second in the competition at 19-7.5 (PQ), logged the third-best mark all-time.
Isabelle Peters logged a second place finish in the pole vault (13-1.75 (PQ);
Rachel Wilson placed second in the high jump (5-7.75, PQ); newcomer
Kayvon Nubine placed second in the 60m hurdles (8.42, PQ), posting the fifth-fastest time in school history;
Claire Bruening placed second in the mile run (5:00.87) and the 4x400m relay of
Jamiya Morgan,
Kinleigh Hall,
Olivia Lowrey and
Mikah Edwards placed second in 3:46.16 (PQ).
Auna Childress placed third in the long jump (19-1.5, PQ) and Gaines clocked a third place time of 39.09 in the 300 meters.
Abby Lasiter posted a fourth place mark of 58-8 (PQ) in the weight throw and
Haleigh Hadley placed fourth in the high jump (5-6.5, PQ).
Marissa Dick placed fourth in the 3,000 meters in a PR time of 9:56.06 after finishing fifth in the 5,000m (17:19.86) Friday night.
Kate Strader also logged a personal best effort in the 3,000 meters Friday at the Boston University Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener. She posted the second-best time in school history in the discipline, clocking a time of 9:38.04.
