Gorilla Coaching Staff Named 2024 MIAA Indoor Track & Field Staff of the Year

KANSAS CITY, Mo. –- The Pittsburg State University track & field coaching staff has been voted the MIAA's men's and women's coaching staff off the year for the 2023-24 indoor track and field season.   Pittsburg State captured both the men's and women's titles at the Association's indoor track & field championships for the third straight year.   This year, both programs won the team titles with record-breaking total points. The Gorillas men clinched the 2024 indoor title with a 212 team points, beating the previous record of 208.5 which Pitt State set at the 2023 indoor championships. The Gorillas women took home the team championship with 221 points, crushing the previous record set Lincoln in 2013 by 30.5 points. Both programs also had five individual MIAA champions at the event.     Overall, it was the men's eighth title in the last 10 years and the women's eighth title in the last nine years.   The Gorillas are led by Head Coach Kyle Rutledge and Associate Head Coach and Meet Director Brian Mantooth. Assisting Rutledge and Mantooth are coaches Ben Barrows, Jesse Miller, Jason Crow, Louis Rollins and graduate assistant Kyle Stevison.   The Gorillas and their MIAA counterparts will now prepare for the 2024 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships, hosted by Pittsburg State at the Robert W. Plaster Center March 8-9 in Pittsburg.
