WICHITA, Kan. - The Pittsburg State women's basketball beat Newman University 83-43 at Fugate Gymnasium today (Feb. 3) behind two double-double performances.
PSU (16-5, 10-5 MIAA) got a lead early and never relinquished it en route to a 41-19 halftime lead. For the game, the Gorillas shot 42.9 percent from the field, made 11 threes and scored 45 points off the bench.
Savannah Campbell (Rolla, Mo.) notched her first career double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench. Karenna Geber (Halstead, Kan.) finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds and a team-high four assists in her sixth double-double of the season.
Grace Pyle (McPherson, Kan.) led the team with 16 points making four from deep and pulling down seven rebounds. Destiny Buerge (Carl Junction, Mo.) went 4-of-7 from three for 12 points in 14 minutes off the bench.
Newman (2-19, 1-14 MIAA) was led by Carissa Beck with 10 points, Amiya Jones had six rebounds and Delainey Wylie finished with a game-high four blocks.
Up next for Pitt State will be a home game against the University of Central Missouri on Wednesday (Feb. 7) from John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court at 5:30 p.m. (CST).
