KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Pittsburg State University sophomore utility player Heather Arnett has been named the MIAA Hitter of the Week Monday (Feb. 5).
Arnett helped lead the Gorillas to a perfect 6-0 start at the DII First Pitch Invitational in Conroe, Texas with a .583 average, 14 hits, 12 runs scored, seven stolen bases and three triples. The Pittsburg native finished the tournament with three straight games having three hits in and back-to-back games with a triple. Arnett stole a base in all but one game with two games where she swiped two bags in. Among MIAA ranks she is first in hits (14), runs (12), stolen bases (7) and triples (3), fourth in slugging percentage (.750) while being fifth in batting average (.583) and OPS (1.458).
Up next for the Gorillas and Arnett is the UCO/OC Classic in Edmond, Okla. (Feb. 9-10) with two games each day. Friday will be spent at Central Oklahoma's Gerry Pinkston Stadium while Saturday will begin at UCO and then shift to Oklahoma Christian's Tom Heath Field to conclude the tournament.
