Burnett Named MIAA Co-Hitter of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Pittsburg State University graduate infielder Hannah Burnett was selected the MIAA Co-Hitter of the Week Monday (Mar. 18). Burnett (Independence, Kan.) helped pace the Gorillas to a 6-0 as Pitt State posted doubleheader wins over three Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference squads at the MIAA/NSIC Conference Challenge in Pittsburg last weekend. Burnett hit .600 on the weekend and slugged .800 with 12 hits, five runs scored, four RBI and four stolen bases across her stat line.  She had three extra base hits among her hit total. In a 6-5 extra-inning win over Winona State Friday (Mar. 15), she went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Burnett also helped on a momentum-turning double play in the contest. Against Concordia-St. Paul Sunday (Mar. 17), she went a combined 5-for-7 with two runs scored, an RBI and two stolen bases in a twin bill sweep of the Golden Bears. Burnett has helped the Gorillas to a 30-2 overall record including a program-best 20-game winning streak the No. 13 ranked squad is currently riding.
