Pitt State Squads Return to Action at Topeka Friday

PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University men's and women's indoor track & field teams will resume their 2025 seasons Friday (Jan. 17) by traveling to Topeka to take part in the Washburn University Rust Buster Meet.

The action gets started at the WU Indoor Athletic Facility at 9:30 a.m. (CST). Nearly 950 athletes representing 58 teams will take part in the meet. MIAA foes Emporia State, Fort Hays State, Missouri Southern and Rogers State will join the Gorillas and the host Ichabods in the competition.

The Gorillas made their season debut Dec. 6-7 by hosting the Boo Rogers Combined Events and the Crimson & Gold Invitational at the Robert W. Plaster Center.

Both the Pitt State women and men captured the 2024 MIAA Indoor Championships. The Gorillas men also claimed the 2024 NCAA Division II Indoor National Championship while the women finished as the national runner-up a year ago. Both squads are preseason favorites to defend their MIAA crowns in 2025.
