KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Pittsburg State University women's volleyball team picked up a four-set win over Rockhurst on Wednesday (Oct. 22) at the Mason-Halpin Field House.

The win for the Gorillas (9-11) is the first in series history against the Hawks (14-7) in Kansas City, and the first win against Rockhurst since Oct. 16, 2007.

Pitt State claimed the match with set scores of 26-24, 26-24, 23-25, 25-21. As a team, the Gorillas collected 22 total blocks while hitting .210 with 54 kills.

Vix Vilott finished the match with a team-high 18 points from 13 kills, six total blocks and two service aces to go with a match-high 21 digs for her sixth double-double of the season.

Maliyah Johnson (10) also joined Vilott with double-figure kill totals.

Don'Yah Cosie (11) became the first teammates since Marianne Carrier (10) and Gloria Illariogun (13) on Nov. 1, 2003 against Truman State to record 10 or more total blocks in the same match. For Dean this was her third match this season to finish with 10 or more total blocks, becoming the first Gorilla since Illariogun in 2003 to accomplish the feat.

For Rockhurst this is the first loss at home of the season and snapped a nine-match winning streak inside Mason-Halpin Field House dating back to a four-set loss to No. 4 Nebraska – Kearney (Sept. 20, 2024).
