PITTSBURG - The Pittsburg State University women's volleyball team ended the weekend with a five-set loss at home against Emporia State on Friday (Oct. 3) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
Emporia State (13-2, 4-0 MIAA) claimed the match with set scores of 22-25, 25-21, 17-25, 25-22, 15-11.
Pittsburg State (7-7, 1-3 MIAA) was led by
Anna Dean with a season-high 24 kills and 28.5 points. Dean is the first Gorilla since Meg Auten on Sept. 10, 2022 at Newman to finish with 24 kills in a match, and her 28.5 points is the most since Pamela Cartagena finished with 30.0 against Cameron on Sept. 5, 2009 in Abilene, Texas.
Kennedy Behnke finished with season-highs for kills (12), total blocks (8) and points (16.0).
Jesa Wallace dished out 54 assists, her best tally as a Gorilla.
Alexis Bittner came away with a career-high 25 digs.
Up next for the Gorillas will be the Newman University Jets on Tuesday (Oct. 7) in the annual Pink Game. First serve from John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court is set for 6:00 p.m. (CT).
