KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Pittsburg State's
Ben Barrows has been named the MIAA Coach of the Year for the 2025 women's cross country season.
The Pitt State women won their fourth consecutive cross country title at the 2025 MIAA Championship, hosted by Pittsburg State University at the Four Oaks Golf Course on Saturday, October 25. All five of Pitt State's scoring finishers placed in the top 25, with the top three Gorillas placing second, third and sixth.
The 2025 title is the Gorillas' seventh victory in the past eight championships and the program's 15th overall – the most among any MIAA member.
Barrows is in his ninth year with the Gorillas' cross country and track and field programs. Since joining the staff in 2017, Barrows and the Gorillas have won nine MIAA cross country titles – seven women's and two men's.
This is Barrows's fourth MIAA Coach of the Year honor, previously winning the women's cross country Coach of the Year title in 2022 and 2023, and the men's Coach of the Year title, also in 2023.
