PITTSBURG - The Pittsburg State University women's volleyball team qualified for the MIAA Tournament on Thursday (Nov. 13) with a Senior Night sweep over Missouri Southern State University at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
The Gorillas (13-13, 6-9 MIAA) claimed the match over Missouri Southern (9-18, 3-12 MIAA) with set scores of 25-19, 25-29, 28-26.
Pittsburg State, was led by
Anna Dean with 14 kills (.700) and a trio of blocks for 16.5 points.
Vix Vilott was the other Gorilla to finish with double-figure kills with 11 (.370).
Jesa Wallace (22) and
Abby Carr (19) split setting duties with
Josie McCroskey claiming a match-high 17 digs.
Don'Yah Cosie finished with a match-high six total blocks with six kills to accumulate 9.0 points.
At the conclusion of the match, seniors
Don'Yah Cosie and
Anna Dean became the third set of teammates to accumulate 100 or more total blocks in the same season (1994 & 2003).
Up next for the Gorillas will be the University of Central Missouri on Saturday (Nov. 15) in Warrensburg, Mo. First serve from the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center is set for 2:00 p.m. (CT). Following the conclusion of the regular season, Pittsburg State will find out who they will play to begin the MIAA Tournament in St. Joseph, Mo., at the Civic Arena beginning on Thursday (Nov. 20).
