Arnett Named MIAA Hitter of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Pittsburg State University junior utility player Heather Arnett was named the MIAA Hitter of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday (Mar. 10). 

Arnett finished with a .453/.480/.708 slash line over six games last weekend, helping the Gorillas go 4-2 against Southwest Baptist, No. 13 Central Oklahoma and Newman. The Pittsburg, Kan., native accounted for 11 hits, seven runs scored, six stolen bases, two doubles, a home run and a triple while trying the school record for hits in a game with five in the final game of the twinbill against Newman (Mar. 8).

This season she is hitting .525 with 42 hits, 27 runs scored, five doubles, two triples, nine runs driven in and 20 stolen bases in 21 attempts through 22 games. Among Division II ranks she is currently fourth in hits, 13th for batting average, 14th for stolen bases and 24th for runs scored. She leads the MIAA in batting average and hits while being second for stolen bases and runs scored.

Arnett and the Gorillas will be back in action hosting the MIAA/NSIC Conference Challenge beginning on Friday (Mar. 14) at 2:00 p.m. at the Pittsburg State Softball Field.
