Heather Arnett was named the MIAA Hitter of the Week for the second time this season as announced by the conference office on Monday (Apr. 21). Arnett was the Hitter of the Week as announced on March 10th this season, and has now been named the MIAA Hitter or Player of the Week three times in her career.
This past week the Pittsburg, Kan., native became the new leader in career hits at Pittsburg State with 252 following a pair of home sweeps against Nebraska - Kearney (Apr. 17) and Fort Hays State (Apr. 18). For the week she slashed .615/.706/.923 with eight hits in 13 at bats, four walks drawn and five stolen bases.
In the two games against UNK, Arnett went 5-of-7 with four runs driven in, three stolen bases, two doubles, two walks drawn and a triple. Against Fort Hays State she would add three more hits, three steals and two more walks drawn.
This season Arnett is hitting a Division II leading .512 with 87 hits, adding in 59 runs scored (4th), 40 stolen bases (6th), 29 RBI and 12 doubles. In her career she is hitting .448 in 157 games with 252 hits, 117 stolen bases, 169 runs scored and 74 RBI to rank in the top-10 among active Division II career leaders for hits, batting average, stolen bases and is in the top-20 for runs scored.
