Gorillas Head to John McDonnell Invitational Friday

PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University outdoor track & field teams will send athletes to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete in the University of Arkansas John McDonnell Invitational Friday (Apr. 25).

The meet will get under way at 10:30 a.m. (CDT) with field events at John McDonnell Field. Running events start at 2:45 p.m.

The meet will serve as the final prep before the 2025 MIAA Outdoor Championships scheduled May 3-4 at Emporia, Kan.

The Pitt State men enter this week's action ranked No. 2 in the most recent USTFCCCA NCAA Division II National Track & Field Ratings Index (TFRI), while the Pitt State women are ranked No. 3 nationally.

The Pitt State men feature three national leaders:  Dapriest Hogans (200m, 20.13), Joel Nyatusah (110m hurdles, 13.19) and Caleb Calvin (javelin, 258-3). The Gorillas, who have six additional national top 5 marks, currently hold 12 top 10 national marks.

The Pitt State women showcase 13 national top 10 marks and national leader:  Rachel Wilson in the high jump (5-10.75).
