DALLAS, Texas - Pittsburg State University junior first basemen Dagen Brewer and graduate student pitcher Kolby Dougan were announced as second-team All-Americans by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association today (May 21).

The duo represent the 13th and 14th Gorillas in program history to be named an All-American, under head coach Bob Fornelli this is his sixth and seventh All-Americans at Pittsburg State and the fifth year in a row to have at least one player receive All-American honors.

Brewer this season set the program record for home runs in the regular season and has increased his tally to 23 following the NCAA Division II Central Regional, his 75 runs batted in this season are second to only Garrett McGowan's 2022 season where he finished with 79. A .376 hitter after helping the Gorillas claim their first NCAA Division II Central Regional championship last weekend, Brewer leads the team with a .871 slugging percentage while adding in 53 runs scored and 19 doubles. This season the Topeka, Kan., native was previously announced as a first-team All-Region selection by the NCBWA and D2CCA after being picked first-team All-MIAA earlier this month.

Dougan has posted an 8-0 record on the mound with a 2.42 ERA following the NCAA Divsion II Central Regional in Mankato, Minn. The Topeka, Kan., native has allowed just 18 earned runs off 36 hits in 67.0 innings of work with 20 walks issued for a 0.84 WHIP. Among season ranks at Pitt State his 107 strikeouts are second to only Brett Parsons 113 he delivered in 2002, Dougan is on pace to set the strikeout per nine innings record with a 14.37 ratio currently. Earlier this month the right handed hurler was named a first-team All-Region selection by the NCBWA and D2CCA after being named Co-Pitcher of the Year and a first-team All-MIAA selection.
