KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Pittsburg State University women's soccer team was selected seventh in the 2025 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Coaches Poll released Friday (Aug. 15).
Picked to win the regular season crown is Central Missouri with 132 points and four first-place votes. The projected second-place finisher is Central Oklahoma, with 126 points and four first-place votes. Rounding out the top four is Missouri Western, with 124 points, followed by Washburn, the regular-season champions for the past two seasons, in fourth place with five first-place votes and 123 points.
Northeastern State was tabbed fifth with 92 points, followed by Northwest Missouri with 89, Pittsburg State with 71 and Nebraska - Kearney with 69 points to round out the top eight. To qualify for the MIAA Postseason Tournament, teams must finish in the top eight of the conference standings.
Second-year head coach
Wes Branstetter will have a 37-member roster this season, comprised of 18 returners from the inaugural season of the program and 19 newcomers. Headlining the returners are All-MIAA performers;
Sailor Jensen,
Avianna Gonzalez and
Jadyn Newell.
Pitt State is scheduled to begin the season on the road against Missouri - St. Louis, Thursday (Sept. 4) at 6:00 p.m. at the Don Dallas Soccer Field.
