PITTSBURG - The Pittsburg State University volleyball team completed the final day of the Gorilla Classic at John Lance Arena on Saturday (Sept. 6) with wins over Southern Arkansas and Truman State.
For the Gorillas (3-1) in game one against SAU (0-4), PSU claimed a four set victory, 22-25, 25-19, 25-13, 25-17. To close out the tournament the Gorillas swept TSU (1-3), 25-23, 25-20, 25-12.
Maliyah Johnson led the team against Southern Arkansas with 12.5 points from 11 kills and a pair of blocks.
Jesa Wallace finished with a team-high 26 assists,
Josie McCroskey came away with 14 digs and
Vix Vilott served four aces.
Against the Bulldogs, Vilott led the team with 12.0 points for 10 kills and a pair of service aces. Wallace led the team again with 22 assists,
Anna Dean had four total blocks and McCroskey finished with 13 digs.
Up next for the Gorillas will be the Pitt State Classic, a two-day six-game tournament at John Lance Arena, beginning on Thursday (Sept. 11).
