PITTSBURG -- The Pittsburg State University baseball team has adjusted its season-opening schedule this weekend due to the weather. The Gorillas, who originally were scheduled to compete at the Dugan Invitational at Hot Springs, Ark., will now travel to Magnolia, Ark., to play a three-game series against Southern Arkansas University Sunday and Monday (Feb. 1-2).
The Gorillas and Muleriders will play a doubleheader Sunday at 1 p.m. (CST) at Walker Stadium on the SAU campus. The two teams will wrap up the series with a Noon game Monday.
Pitt State was picked No. 2 in the 2026 MIAA Preseason Coaches poll and the Gorillas were tabbed No. 3 in the preseason NCAA Division II Central Region Poll released by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America (NCBWA). Pitt State posted a school record 42-12 record in 2025 advancing to the NCAA Division II Super Regionals.
