BRANSON, Mo. - The Pittsburg State University softball team ended the Branson D2 Battle Tournament with a pair of wins on Friday (Feb. 13) to end their third weekend of tournament action unblemished on the season at 13-0.
Pittsburg State (13-0) began the day with an 8-0 six inning run rule win against Christian Brothers University (3-3).
Emma Crabb (4-0) picked up the complete game two-hit win, striking out six.
Alleyna Rushing went 4-of-4 with a pair of runs driven in,
Heather Arnett (3-of-4) finished with a game-high three RBI and was one of three Gorillas that scored twice.
To end the day, Pitt State staved off a late inning comeback bid from Arkansas Tech University (6-5) for an 8-2 win.
Ava Laurent (4-0) got the win in the circle with 4.0 innings of work as
Sailor Hall notched the three inning save. Hall opened up the game in the fifth inning with a grand slam to make it 7-1 for her fourth home run of the season before coming in to pitch.
Up next for the Gorillas will be the MIAA/GLVC Crossover beginning on Saturday (Feb. 21). As hosts, Pittsburg State will welcome the University of Missouri - St. Louis for a double header on Saturday before ending the weekend with a twinbill on Sunday (Feb. 22) against McKendree.
