LINCOLN, Neb. -- Pittsburg State University men's and women's indoor track & field athletes enjoyed a successful first day of competition at the University of Nebraska Frank Sevigne Invitational Friday (Feb. 6).
Lily Brown recorded a personal best point total in the women's pentathlon Friday, placing fifth overall in the meet with 3,746 points. Her performance bumps her up from No. 8 to No. 6 in NCAA Division II this season.
Payton Phillips also placed seventh in the multi events with a season best 3,631 points, good for No. 11 in D2 this year.
Isabelle Peters placed third in the women's pole vault with a clearance of 13 feet, 10.5 inches, while
Breanne Peters and
Cannon Booker each cleared 13-4.5. Booker recorded a PR with her performance.
Britton Gage and
Braylon Brown each cleared 16-3.25 in the men's pole vault Friday.
Pitt State's
Drew Wilhite exited day one action of the men's heptathlon in second place with 3,002 points, while newcomer
Leo Chauchard sits in fifth place with 2,934 points. Chauchard posted the top mark in the shot put competition in day one action, while Wilhite finished second in the shot put (45-2.25) and third in both the high jump (6-1.5) and the long jump (22-4.5).
Day two action in the heptathlon starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bob Devaney Center on the NU campus.
