BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The Pittsburg State University men's golf team completed the second day of the NCAA Division II Midwest/Central Regional at the Katke Golf Course on Friday (May 8).
As a team, the Gorillas for the day finished +13 to be +41 for the tournament and move into 19th as a squad. Grand Valley State at -3 (-2/-1) moved up to first in the team standings as Central Missouri at -2 (+6/-8) had the best day as a team and now sit in second place.
Tyler Hardtarfer moved up 32 spots to be tied for 38th at +5 (+6/-1), being one of 18 individuals for the day to go under par, notching his 12th round this season where he finished either under or on par for the round.
Mason White finished the day at +3 (+11) to move up into a tie for 82nd.
Jack Randall at +4 (+12) for the day moved into a tie for 87th,
David Hobart finished the day at +7 (+18) to be 103rd and
Cooper Forth rounded out the team with a two-round score of +15 to be tied for 100th. CJ Phillips of Rogers State is the individual leader after 36 holes, at -10 (-4/-6) with the nearest competitor currently with -5 scores.
Teams and competitors will complete the final day of the tournament on Saturday (May 9) morning, with the top three teams and two student-athletes not attached to an advancing team progressing to the NCAA Division II Championship (May 18-22) at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.
