2012 Biography

General: Fourth-year player... one of the premier players in NCAA Division II… a returning consensus first-team All-America performer… the 2011 Division II National Defensive Player of the Year (Don Hansen Football Committee)… primed for another All-America caliber season… voted a PSU team captain for a second consecutive season (2011-12).

In 2011: Started all 14 games… recorded 139 tackles (51 solo) with 17.0 tackles-for-loss, 3.0 quarterback sacks, seven interceptions and six pass breakups… earned first-team All-America honors from the AFCA, Associated Press, Daktronics and Don Hansen Football Committee… a first-team All-MIAA selection and the MIAA Defensive Player of the Year… made double digit tackles in eight games… registered 18 stops in the NCAA-II semifinals vs. Delta State (Dec. 10) and 15 tackles in the NCAA-II National Championship Game vs. Wayne State (Dec. 17)… twice named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week – vs. NW Missouri State (Oct. 1) and vs. Central Missouri (Oct. 22).

In 2010: Started all 12 games… led NCAA Division II with 160 tackles (73 solo)… also logged 20.5 TFLs, 1.5 QB sacks, two forced fumbles and one PBU … a first-team All-America selection by Daktronics and Don Hansen… the Don Hansen National co-Freshman of the Year… also a second-team All-American on the Associated Press Little All-America Team… the MIAA Freshman of the Year and a second-team All-MIAA selection… twice named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week… named the DII National Defensive Player of the Week vs. Chadron State (Sept. 4) when he posted 16 tackles and 3.5 TFLs… recorded nine or more tackles in all 12 games, including double-digit stops 11 times… made a season-high 18 tackles vs. Missouri Southern (Oct. 2).

In 2009: Redshirt season.

In High School: A two-time Kansas Top 11 (All-State, All-Class) selection at Hutchinson High School (2007-08)… a first-team Kansas Class 5A All-State pick as a senior in 2008… a first-team Class 6A All-State selection as a junior in 2007... broke the school’s single-season tackle record while helping HHS to the 5A state title in 2008… a 2009 Kansas Shrine Bowl selection.

Personal: Born October 27, 1990… son of Randy Dreiling and Cathy Younger… a two-year member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll… has a 3.24 GPA as a physical education major.
