2012 Biography

General: Second-year player… one of the premiere players in NCAA Division II… returns from an All-America sophomore campaign as both a wide receiver and a return specialist… a speedster with 4.35 speed… an electric player who is primed for a big junior season… voted a 2012 PSU team captain by his peers.

In 2011: Started 12 of 14 games… caught a team-leading 61 passes for 1,216 yards (19.9 ypc) and 12 touchdowns… also carried the ball 18 times for 92 yards (5.1 ypc) and three TDs… returned 27 punts for a 13.7-yard average with two TDs… returned 24 kickoffs for a 25.7-yard average with one touchdown… compiled 2,293 all-purpose yards (163.8 ypg)… scored 110 points (7.9 ppg)… selected a first-team All-America return specialist by Dakotronics and the Don Hansen Football Committee… also earned All-America honors as a return specialist by the Associated Press… an honorable mention All-America honoree at wide receiver (Don Hansen)… earned first-team All-MIAA as a kick returner and second-team All-MIAA as a wide receiver… led the MIAA and ranked 13th in Division II in all-purpose yards… also ranked 14th nationally in punt returns… returned a punt 84 yards for a touchdown the first time he touched the ball for the Gorillas in the season opener vs. Missouri Western (Sept. 1)… had eight catches for a season-high 182 yards and two TDs vs. NW Missouri State in The Fall Classic at Arrowhead X (Oct. 1)… tied a PSU record with five TDs (three rushing, two receiving) in the regular season finale vs. Missouri Southern (Nov. 12)… selected MIAA Offensive Player of the Week vs. NWMSU and MSSU and voted MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week vs. MWSU… caught six passes for 174 yards and three TDs in the NCAA-II quarterfinals vs. NW Missouri State (Dec. 3)… became the first Pitt State receiver to post four consecutive 100-yard games (Nov. 5 - Dec. 3)… his receiving yards (1216) and receiving touchdowns (12) rank second on PSU’s single-season chart.

In Junior College: Redshirted in his only season at Coffeyville Community College in 2010... transferred from Division II member Mars Hill College.

At Mars Hill: Competed one season at Mars Hill (2008)… saw action in all 11 games including two starts… caught 27 passes for 619 yards and seven touchdowns… led the team with 1,472 all-purpose yards (133.8 ypg)… returned 29 kickoffs for a 24.8-yard average with one touchdown… returned 15 punts for a 7.8-yard average… named the South Atlantic Confernce Freshman of the Year…posted three 100-yard receiving games, including a 126-yard, two-TD effort in the season finale vs. Wingate (Nov. 8)… named the SAC Special Teams Player of the Week after returning a kickoff 87 yards for a score vs. Lenoir-Rhyne (Oct. 25).

In High School: An All-Dade County performer at Homestead High as a senior in 2007.

Personal: Born April 3, 1990… son of Cassandra Brown… has an infant daughter Caia who was born April 1… a social work major.
