Dean Named D2CCA 1st Team All-Region

TOPEKA, Kan. - Senior middle blocker Anna Dean was announced as a first-team All-Region performer by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) on Wednesday (Dec. 3).

Dean this season was named the MIAA Blocker of the Year and a first-team All-MIAA selection after finishing with 166 total blocks (1.57 per set) and 251 kills (2.37) while hitting .308 (251 K - 71 E - 584 TA). The Oswego, Kan., native became the first Gorilla in the rally score era (2001-pres.) to finish five matches with 10 or more total blocks, also becoming the first player in MIAA Tournament history to have back-to-back matches with 10 or more total blocks recorded.

Among program season ranks her 166 total blocks are the fourth most all-time, third in the rally score era and her 1.57 blocks per set is third best all-time, second in the rally score era. Her .308 hitting percentage ranks seventh in PSU season ranks for individuals with at least 500 attempts. For her career, Dean finished with a .268 hitting percentage (408 K - 135 E - 1018 TA) the seventh best percentage in program history for individuals with at least 1000 total attempts.

Dean helped the Gorillas this season finish with a Division II leading 344 total blocks (3.16 per set), the third most in a season in PSU history that also ranks second for blocks per set by a Pittsburg State team since the rally score era began. As an individual she ranks fourth in Division II for total blocks and blocks per set as of the time of writing.
