INDIANAPOLIS — Forty-two Pittsburg State University track & field athletes qualified for the 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships to be held May 22-24 at the CSU Pueblo Thunderbowl at Pueblo, Colo. Twenty-three men and 19 women qualified for the national meet.

The Pitt State men have three athletes –
Caleb Calvin,
Dapriest Hogans and
Joel Nyatusah – and a pair of relays that enter the national meet ranked No. 1. Calvin is the pre-meet favorite in the javelin (258-3), Hogans has the top mark in the 200 meters (20.13) and Nyatusah is ranked No. 1 in the 110-meter hurdles (13.19). The 4x100m relay of
Victor Smith, Hogans,
Dakari Charlton and
Braylon Thompson sports the fastest time in the country (39.49) and the 4x400m relay of
Woyn Chatman, Hogans,
Caden Williams and
Nate Watson is ranked No. 1 as well (3:05.66).
Three more Gorillas are ranked No. 2 in the respective events:Â
Mason Strader in the 1,500 meters (3:39.34),
Daylin Williams in the 110m hurdles (13.42) and
Jack Haukap in the hammer throw (220-1).
Treyvon Ferguson is ranked No. 3 in the triple jump (51-9.75) and
Hunter Jones is third in the decathlon (7527 points). Hogans also qualified fifth in the 100 meters (10.13) and
Tre Betts qualified fifth in the triple jump (51-9.25).
Watson is seeded No. 7 in the 400 meters (46.16); Smith is ranked No. 7 in the 110m hurdles (13.75);
Maddox Johnson is seeded No. 9 in the javelin (224-4); Chatman is ranked No. 11 in the 400m (46.39);
Dylan Sprecker is seeded No. 11 in the 1,500 meters (3:42.51);
Reed Mason is ranked No. 12 in the javelin (222-1);
Cole Sample is seeded No.13 in the shot put (58-10.75);
Brennan Boord is ranked No. 13 in the discus (180-5); and Charlton is seeded No. 13 in the 200m (20.66).
Smith (10.25) and Charlton (10.26) are qualified 17th and 19th in the 100m;
Matthew Oglesby is seeded 15th in the 10,000 meters (29:05.65) and 21st in the 5,000m (13:56.00); and
Jordan Kilonzo is ranked No. 22 in the 800 meters (1:49.43).
The Pitt State men are the three-time defending NCAA Division II national champions from the 2022, 2023 and 2024 outdoor seasons. The Gorillas, who also have captured the 2023, 2024 and 2025 NCAA-II indoor national titles, are ranked No. 1 in this week's USTFCCCA/NCAA Division II National Track & Field Ratings Index (TFRI).
Redshirt junior
Blakelee Winn qualified in four events to lead the Pitt State women's contingent. Winn enters the national meet ranked No. 2 in the heptathlon (5,780 points), No. 5 in the long jump (20-9.75), No. 14 in the 110m hurdles (13.59) and she will run on Pitt State's No. 5 ranked 4x100m relay (44.65), along with teammates
Kayvon Nubine,
Diandrenique Gaines and
Jamiya Morgan.
Gaines also qualified third in the 200m (23.06) and eighth in the 100m (11.33), while Morgan qualified 20th in the 200m (23.51). Nubine also qualified 11th in the 110m hurdles 13.57).
Kyla Davis (13-11.75) and
Isabelle Peters (13-11.75) are seeded in a tie for No. 4 in the pole vault with
Cannon Booker (13-4.75) seeded 10th in the discipline.
Rachel Wilson is the pre-meet favorite in the high jump (6-0.75), while
Haleigh Hadley (5-8.75) and
Haila Leake (5-8) are ranked sixth and 10th in the discipline.
Kate Strader is seeded No. 4 in the 1,500m (4:19.24) and
Claire Bruening is ranked No. 21 in the event (4:25.66).
Paige Mullen qualified eighth in the 10,000m (34:22.37) and 13th in the 5,000m (16:11.62).
Hannah Gibson also is seeded No. 12 in the 10,000m (34:33.04).
Additionally,
Abby Lasiter qualified 16th in the hammer (187-6);
Brooklyn Baker qualified 19th in the long jump (20-0.25);
Shelby Sogaard qualified 19th in the javelin (150-7);
Makayla Pavelka qualified 21st in the triple jump (39-11.5); and
Makayla Watson qualified 22nd in the long jump (19-10.75).
The Pitt State women captured the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship and claimed the 2025 NCAA-II Indoor National Championship as well. The Gorillas are ranked No. 2 in this week's D2 TFRI.
