OKLAHOMA CITY -- Pittsburg State University distance runner
Dylan Sprecker, who recently completed his redshirt sophomore season, became just the second Gorilla to run a sub four minute mile Friday (May 30). Sprecker crossed the finish line in 3 minutes, 59.49 seconds at the Stars Mile Night at Taft Stadium.
The Gypsum, Kan., native closed out his third year in the Pitt State track & field program by placing third in the 1,500 meters at the 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships a week ago at Pueblo, Colo., helping the Gorillas capture their fourth straight outdoor national title. He also earned All-America honors in the mile during the 2025 indoor season as well.

Mason Strader became the first Pitt State runner to clock a sub 4 minute mile in 2022 when he posted a time of 3:58.47 on Feb. 18 at the University of Arkansas Qualifier at Fayeteville.
