Pitt State Named 2025 MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Staff of the Year

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Pittsburg State University track and field coaching staff was named the MIAA men's and women's Coaching Staff of the Year for the 2025 outdoor track and field season.

Pittsburg State dominated the Association's 2025 outdoor track and field championships, hosted May 2-4 at Emporia State University's Francis G. Welch Stadium in Emporia, Kan. The Gorillas took home both MIAA titles and combined for 18 individual champions and three relay team champions.

The Gorilla women won the 2025 crown with a record-breaking point total. The Pitt women totaled 271.5 points in the three-day event, crushing the previous MIAA record of 225 set by Emporia State in 1999.

The Gorilla men won their fifth straight outdoor title at the 2025 championship. The Pitt men totaled 252.5 team points for the most team points scored in the men's outdoor championship since 1986.

Leading the Gorillas is head coach Kyle Rutledge and associate head coach/meet director Brian Mantooth. Assisting Rutledge and Mantooth is Ben Barrows, head men's and women's cross country coach, and assistant coaches Jason Crow and Jesse Miller. The staff is also accompanied by two graduate assistants, Chandler Barnett and Markus Triebert.

This is Pittsburg's third consecutive Coaching Staff of the Year honor on the men's side and the second straight on the women's side. In total, the Pitt State coaching staff has been honored as the MIAA Coaching Staff of the Year 15 times in the last four years between men's and women's cross country and men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field.

The Gorillas advance to the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships as the reigning national champions. Pittsburg State has won the last four NCAA Division II track and field national titles combined (men's and women's 2025 indoor and men's and women's 2024 outdoor).
