WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Pittsburg State University women's golf team after the first day of the MIAA Championship on Monday (Apr. 20) at the Mules National Golf Course sit in a tie for ninth.
Pitt State (+44) following the opening 18 holes are tied with Northeastern State and in front of Missouri Southern (+45), Fort Hays State (+50) and Newman (+68). As a team, the Gorillas were one of the better teams on the day for par 3s at +14 (3.47) with the top four teams (Nebraska - Kearney, Central Missouri, Central Oklahoma and Northwest Missouri) the only squads to average better on par 3s.
Katherine Adkins at +8 is the top individual after the first day of action for PSU, finishing the opening day in 18th with 11 pars over 18 holes.
Kylee Hopper is in 30th at +10 with a birdie and 10 pars for the day.
Abby Ervin at +11 is 37th with three birdies to leads the team on the day and five pars.
Charlotte Kerbs at +15, sits in 53rd with 10 pars achieved.
Kymbree Larance rounds out the team at +17 to be in 56th with six pars.Â
Tied atop the team leaderboards are Nebraska - Kearney and Central Missouri at +26. Jessica Parker from Northeastern State is the individual leader at +3.
Pittsburg State will start action on Tuesday (Apr. 21) at 9:50 a.m. (CDT) from hole 10.
