Pitt State Men & Women Named USTFCCCA Scholar Teams of the Year

Four Gorillas Receive National Scholar Athlete Recognition

NEW ORLEANS — The Pittsburg State University men's and women's track & field programs swept 2026 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Scholar Athlete Team of the Year honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Redshirt junior Dylan Sprecker was named National Scholar Athlete for men's indoor track athletes, while redshirt senior Isabelle Peters was selected Co-National Scholar Athlete for women's indoor field athletes. Additionally, redshirt senior Blakelee Winn and freshman Breanne Peters each garnered Co-National Scholar Athlete honors for women's outdoor field athletes.

The Gorilla men, who maintained a 3.11 cumulative GPA, won the team title at the 2026 NCAA DII Indoor Championships at Virginia Beach, Va., and Pitt State finished as the national runner-up at the 2026 NCAA DII Outdoor Championships at Emporia, Kan., in May.

This is the fifth time in program history that Pittsburg State has been named NCAA DII Men's Indoor Track & Field National Scholar Team of the Year, adding to its honors from 2018, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

The Pitt State women also claimed the team title at the 2026 NCAA DII Indoor Championships in March and finished as the national runner-up during the outdoor campaign. The Gorillas maintain a 3.49 cumulative GPA.

This is the second time in program history that Pittsburg State has been named NCAA DII Women's Indoor Track & Field National Scholar Team of the Year. The Gorillas have twice been named National Women's Outdoor Scholar Team of the Year in 2016 and 2024.

Sprecker (Gypsum, Kan.), who maintained a 3.90 cumulative GPA in exercise science, won the mile and anchored the winning distance medley relay at the 2026 NCAA DII Indoor Championships. 

Isabelle Peters (Lindsborg, Kan.) won the pole vault at the 2026 NCAA DII Indoor Championships. She maintained a 4.00 GPA pursuing a master's degree in educational leadership. Her sister, Breanne Peters, claimed the national title in the pole vault at the 2026 NCAA DII Outdoor Championships. She also carries a perfect 4.00 GPA in recreation services, sport & hospitality management.

Winn (Pea Ridge, Ark.), who maintained a cumulative GPA of 4.00 pursuing a master's degree in health, human performance and recreation (HHPR), won the long jump and finished runner-up in the heptathlon at the 2026 NCAA DII Outdoor Championships.

In all, 16 Pitt State men and 31 Pitt State women received National Scholar Athlete recognition from the USTFCCCA. The men's honorees include:  Braylon Brown, Leo Chauchard, Logan Davis, Antwan Dawson, Eli Gilmore, Jack Haukap, Maddox Johnson, Matthew Malmstrom, Gannon Marquardt, Victor Morfin, Sprecker, Drake Stapleton, Braylon Thompson, Caden Uthe and Drew Wilhite. The women's honorees include:  Isabel Abdouch, Brooklyn Baker, Alexa Binkley, Cannon Booker, Lily Brown, Kelsey Bruening, Nikole Cozort, Mikah Edwards, Hannah Gibson, Kinleigh Hall, Kyra Heald, Piper Hula, Abby Lasiter, Haila Leake, Kelsey Locke, Brennan Moeckel, Paige Mullen, Madi Olds, Makayla Pavelka, Breanne Peters, Isabelle Peters, Payton Phillips, Maggie Salsbury, Kaci Singer, Kinley Smith, Quincey Turner, Bethany Umbarger, Claire Vanderweide, Olivia Vanderweide, Eva Williams and Blakelee Winn.

Scholar Athletes must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 on a 4.00 scale through the end of the semester of competition and must have completed at least 24 semester hours through the end of the semester of competition at the institution. The student-athlete must have achieved an automatic or provisional qualifying mark for either the indoor season or outdoor season.
