Gorillas Post Big Marks in Friday Track Action


WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Pittsburg State University men's and women's outdoor track & field teams wrapped up action at the University of Central Missouri Mule Relays Friday (Apr. 15) at Audrey J. Walton Stadium.

The Pitt State men recorded a pair of individual event victories: Nicholas Ray in the steeplechase (9:24.18) and Bryce Grahn in the 5,000 meters (14:28.96).

Auna Childress recorded the women's lone victory in the triple jump (39-6.5).

Other notable performances, included Diego Contreras placing second in the men's 5,000m (14:29.56), Konner Swenson placing third in the men's discus (168-10) and Matthew Oglesby finishing fourth in the men's 5,000m (14:36.12). Kate Dawson added a second place finish in the women's 800 meters (2:11.78) and a fourth place effort in the women's 5,000 meters (17:46.12); and, Camryn Williams finished fourth in the women's shot put (44-2).

In West Coast action Friday, Pitt State's L.J. Kiner shattered the school record in the men's triple jump (53-8.25), while winning the discipline at the prestigious Mt. Sac Relays at Walnut, Calif.

The men's 4x400m relay of Sam Tudor, Bailey Stone, Nizar Alarahshun and Braylen Brewer shaved .02 off their school record from a week ago while winning the discipline at Mt. Sac.

Brewer also registered a personal best time of 46.48 in the men's 400 meters; and, Kyla Davis posted a PR clearance of 13-1.5 in the women's pole vault.

The women's 4x400m relay of Matti Price, Olivia Lowery, Christine Williams and Madison Burt also lowered their season best time to 3:45.09.

Earlier this week, Blakelee Winn posted the second best mark in school history (5518 points) in the women's heptathlon Wednesday at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa, Calif.
