General: Fifth-year player… a returning two-time All-MIAA performer… a talented safety who is primed for a big senior campaign… has made 153 career tackles and 12 career pass break-ups.
In 2018: Started 10 of 11 games… made 54 tackles (31 solo) with 3.5 tackles-for-loss, one interception and eight pass break-ups on the season… earned honorable mention All-MIAA honors… posted a career-high 10 tackles vs. MWSU (Oct. 27).
In 2017: Saw action in all 12 games, including 11 starts… made 70 tackles (44 solo) with 4.0 tackles-for-loss, two interceptions, two pass break-ups and two blocked kicks… earned MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week vs. UCO (Sept. 9)… recorded two interceptions vs. NWMSU (Oct. 28)… earned honorable mention All-MIAA honors.
In 2015-16: Saw action in 10 games in a reserve role in 2016, posting 19 tackles (12 solo) and two PBUs, after redshirting in his initial season in the Pitt State program (2015).
In High School: A two-time Kansas Class 5A All-State performer at Bishop Carroll High School (2013-14)… made 156 tackles with seven interceptions (two for TDs), six forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries as a senior for the Golden Eagles… helped BCHS capture Class 5A state titles in 2012 and 2014… also a state medalist in track & field.
Personal: Born January 25, 1997… son of John and Jane Hornback… a four-year member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and an MIAA Scholar Athlete in 2017-18… a 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America selection… has a 3.70 GPA as a construction management major.
