General: Fifth-year player… a talented defensive end who has evolved into a frontline performer for the Gorillas… figures to contend for a starting role again this fall… has 47 career tackles with 8.5 tackles-for-loss and 3.5 quarterback sacks… also an All-MIAA and NCAA Division II All-America thrower in the PSU track & field program.
In 2018: Saw action in all 11 games, including three starts… made 28 tackles (14 solo) with 6.0 tackles-for-loss and 2.5 QB sacks on the season… made a five tackles with 3.0 tackles-for-loss vs. UCM (Oct. 20)… made a career-best seven stops vs. MWSU (Oct. 27).
In 2017: Saw action in all 12 games, including nine starts… made 19 tackles (13 solo) with 2.5 tackles-for-loss and 1.0 QB sack on the season… made a season-high four tackles vs. UCO (Sept. 9).
In 2015-16: Did not see any action on the field in 2016, after redshirting in his initial season in the Pitt State program (2015).
In High School: A three-time Kansas Class 3A All-State performer at Caney Valley High School (2012-14)… a three-time All-State honoree at defensive end as well as a two-time All-State selection at quarterback… also a two-time Class 3A state champion in the discus.
In Track & Field: Earned All-America honors with a sixth-place showing in the hammer throw at the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships… also a national qualifier in the weigh throw indoors… ranks second all-time at PSU in the weight throw (65 feet, 11 inches) and the hammer throw (210 feet, 6 inches).
Personal: Born September 15, 1995… son of Jeff and Mary Wyrick… a four-year member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll, an MIAA Scholar Athlete and an MIAA Academic Excellence Award recipient… earned the NCAA Elite 90 Award for men’s outdoor track & field in 2018 and men’s indoor track & field in 2019… the 2018-19 Ken B. Jones Award winner as the MIAA Male Student-Athlete of the Year… also a three-time Google Cloud Academic All-America in football and track & field… has a perfect 4.00 GPA as a physical education major.
